Artists show their calligraphy works to Pace participants April 12.
Female artists from Jiangsu province shared the ideas of peace and diversity embodied in Chinese paintings and calligraphy works at Pace University in New York City April 12.
The delegation was led by Sun Xiaoyun, vice-president of the China Calligraphy Association, and included painters from different genres.
After briefing Pace members about the history of Chinese calligraphy, Sun shared her handwriting work, Zhuzi Jiaxun, or Zhu Xi's Family Precepts, showing the blending of calligraphy and Chinese literary classics.
She also shared a collection of her calligraphy works with Pace and left a message of greeting on the preface.
Under the guidance of the female artists, the Pace participants tried their hands at using brushes to write down their Chinese names. A professor from the history department of Pace marveled at the beauty and elegance of Chinese calligraphy and especially at her name rendered in Chinese.
The activity ended with Pace members taking a group photo with their handwriting works and the Jiangsu artists.
