Headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, Phoenix Publishing & Media Group (PPMG) has a registered capital of 7 billion yuan ($992.73 million) and is involved in publishing, distribution, printing, film and television, cultural hotels, cultural real estate, cultural trade, and financial investment.

In 2022, PPMG reaped 16.9 billion yuan in operating revenue and 3.9 billion yuan in net profits. By the end of last year, the group's total assets and net assets amounted to 68.5 billion yuan and 44.2 billion yuan, respectively.

The group owns 190 subsidiaries, nine publishing houses, six of which are rated "first-level" in China, and one daily city newspaper, and has about 13,000 employees. It also has two main-board listed companies – Phoenix Media and Phoenix Ltd – and is an important shareholder of Bank of Jiangsu and Nanjing Securities.

PPMG possesses an offline distribution system with a total area of over 900,000 square meters, ranking first in China in terms of both number and scale. The group has also maintained cooperative relationships with well-known publishing organizations from more than 60 countries and regions.

PPMG is ranked among the top publishers in China in mass publication and is the second largest publisher of textbooks for primary and secondary schools in China. The group has made the list of top 30 cultural companies in China every year over the past 15 years. Last year, it ranked 10th worldwide and first in China in the publishing industry.

The group ranks first in China in terms of the total number of national publishing awards. It has also seen diverse development in digital publication and has made solid steps toward integrated development.

PPMG's development goal for the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) is to develop into a world-leading publishing and media enterprise with strong competitiveness in its core business, as well as wide cultural influence, robust international broadcasting capabilities, and impressive overall competence. PPMG will also work to become the culture and financial investment holding platform of Jiangsu province.
