Annan's Memoir published in Chinese
Kofi Annan, writer, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, attended a ceremony marking the launch of the Chinese versions of Interventions: A Life in War and Peace and We the Peoples: A UN for the Twenty-First Century on April 22.
The launch was hosted by China International Publishing Group and Kofi Annan Foundation with the help of the Foreign Language Press and Yilin Press. Dignitaries from media organizations and the UN attended the ceremony.
The Chinese version of Interventions: A Life in War and Peace, published by Yilin Press, is a memoir by Kofi Annan, vividly and honestly describing his career at the UN. It narrates his views on geopolitics and relationships with leaders. After witnessing so many turbulent events and hardship, Annan said he felt deeply that economic development is the only way to solve conflicts in international affairs. Yilin Press bought the rights for a Chinese edition at the 2009 London Book Fair.
Annan has insisted on his own credo and devoted himself to a career of peace in the world and development of humankind. By reading this book, readers from China can understand the great work of Annan, the Kofi Annan Foundation, and the UN, and can have a real international outlook, said Zhou Mingwei, director of China International Publishing Group.
Mr. She Jiangtao, VP of PPM, said that as the publisher of Chinese edition of Interventions: A Life in War and Peace, he is honored and pleased to spread the “Annan spirit”. In the future he and the press will publish more books to disseminate the spirit of great people.
