Updated: 2015-08-06

At a charity event in Guanyun, Jiangsu, on Sept 23, 2014, the Phoenix Media group donated 100,000 yuan ($16,100) and 5,000 books to students in the county whose parents live in impoverished conditions.

Phoenix has been aiding Guanyun county, and one of its towns, Tongxing, in recent years with around 400,000 yuan a year for an electric pump station, workshop, and roads. Due to its publishing and media connections, Phoenix has built a library at the Tongxing Central Primary School to provide a more stable, bountiful source of education for the students.

PPMG Vice President, Li Xue, commented that this kind of social responsibility is important for everyone and it benefits Phoenix because the charity work provides a platform for employees to learn from society and gain practical working experience.
