Updated: 2016-07-27

The sixth Jiangsu Book Fair concluded at the Yangzhou International Exhibition Center in the city of Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, on July 12.

The five-day event, which was held by the Jiangsu provincial government, held its main event in Yangzhou with five sub-sessions in five other cities across the province. It attracted more than 280,000 visitors and 380 publishing companies, with 120,000 books displayed and a total sales volume exceeding 24.7 million yuan ($3.7 million).

Apart from being a treasure trove of books, the event organizers also held various activities such as book launches, reading lectures, meet-and-greets with famous writers and public autograph sessions. A group of writers and literature scholars including Hans Christian Andersen award winner Cao Wenxuan and Mao Dun Literature Award winner Ge Fei took part in the event to share their experiences with the readers.

As an organizer of the event, Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc set up a work panel in May to manage venue decoration, budgeting, personnel placement and field selling in a bid to ensure the smooth running of the fair.
