PPMG performs strongly amid epidemic
Chinese publishing giant Phoenix Publishing & Media Group (PPMG) has managed to weather the global economic decline and several of its subsidiaries even reported growth amid the epidemic.
Xkw.com, an online education platform owned by PPMG, reported a first quarter revenue of over 50 million yuan. Although most schools remain closed, PPMG renewed most of its old cooperation agreements and signed over 2,000 new deals, a two-fold year on year increase.
In addition, xkw.com lived up to its social commitments and donated over 21 million sets of online educational resources to help students forced to stay at home due to the epidemic. As of April 7, the company had 23,180 partner schools and 4.46 million new users.
On February 26, 19 books published by PPMG were recognized by and will receive subsidies from the National Publication Foundation, more than any other Chinese publisher
The National Publication Foundation was established in 2007 to support extraordinary publications that demonstrate high quality and strong cultural influence in China and abroad. Recognition from the foundation is a mark of quality in China's publication industry.
Despite the annual lists shortening each year (779 in 2018, 760 in 2019, and 633 in 2020), PPMG remained in the top three each year with 21, 21, and 19 entries in 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively.
