Golden River, published by Yilin Press, a subsidiary of Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, will make its appearance in Turkiye, according to a signing ceremony between Yilin Press and Kanat Kitap on June 16.

Wu Yiqin, vice-chairman of the China Writers Association, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He believes that Golden River will teach overseas readers about contemporary China and promote exchanges between peoples from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative with its descriptions of Chinese-style modernization, the country's entrepreneurial history, and the revitalization and development of ancient Kunqu Opera.

Zhang Chaoyang, chairman of PPMG, shared the achievements of PPMG and Yilin Press in the overseas spread of Chinese literature and expressed his expectation for more literature works to be published in China and Turkiye, better promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries.

Ge Qingwen, head of Yilin Press, reviewed Yilin's efforts to introduce Chinese culture to global readers, discovering clients in BRI countries, and promoting the publishing of Chinese books in lesser-known languages.

He said that Yilin Press has seen the publication of five of Lu Min's books in seven languages.

Among them, the Swedish version of Dinner for Six made the 2020 Book of the Year list released by the Swedish Ministry of Culture, and the English version was on Top Picks for Best Chinese Novels 2022 published by the China-Britain Business Council.

The English version of A True Sad Love Story is published by publishing giant Simon & Schuster, while the Serbian version was on the list of good books compiled by local media.

Ge added that he hopes they will introduce these outstanding books to publishing circles and readers in different countries and contribute to the overseas spread of Chinese literature.

Kanat Kitap has published the works of Chinese writers such as Lu Min, Wang Meng, Tie Ning, Yu Hua, Ye Zhaoyan, and Su Tong. The sales of Lu's works – A True Sad Love Story, Father on the Wall, and Dinner for Six – have been strong in Turkiye. A True Sad Love Story has sold nearly 10 million copies and the book's cover has been redesigned for more printing.

Editor-in-chief of Kanat Kitap in Turkiye noted that the world shows an increasing interest in Chinese literature and they hope to continue publishing more of Lu's works to make her more known in Turkiye.

Golden River is a review of Mu Youheng, part of the first generation of private entrepreneurs in China after the country's reform and opening-up in the 1970s, and includes important moments such as the establishment of special economic zones, springing up of private businesses, and reform of State-owned enterprises.

Agreements on the publication of the Russian, Serbian, Kazakh, and Malay versions of the novel have been inked and the Serbian version is currently being translated.
