Senior managers of publishing firms explore innovation

The 2023 International Publishing Forum takes place in Beijing on June 17.

More than 100 senior managers of publishing houses in China, the US, the UK, and other countries attended the 2023 International Publishing Forum in Beijing on June 17 to explore how to pursue high-quality development in the digital era.

Zhang Chaoyang, chairman of publishing giant Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, said that PPMG has improved its overseas layout and enhanced its international communication capacity in recent years, leading to fruitful results in copyright export and international cooperation.

Zhang added that the group will go global by listening to consumer demand, building their brand, forming partnerships, and spreading overseas.

Wu Shulin, director of the Publishers Association of China, noted that over the past three years of the pandemic, the ability of international publishers to spread innovative technology has improved and Chinese publishers should follow global publishing principles and customs.

The pandemic also led people realize that the international publishing industry requires cooperation and innovation, which can promote the industry's development in some underdeveloped areas, added Karine Pansa, president of the International Publishers Association.

Pansa said that the IPA has been advancing cooperation via innovation, which has never been more urgent since its establishment 127 years ago, and that it will strengthen cooperation in completing data, fixing copyright and AI technology policy loopholes, and dealing with the climate crisis.
