PPMG attends 75th Frankfurt Book Fair

A 15-member delegation of Chinese publishing giant Phoenix Publishing and Media Group brought nearly 500 kinds of books to the 75th Frankfurt Book Fair, which was held in Frankfurt, Germany from Oct 18 to 22.
PPMG set up an individual exhibition stand, which includes areas for exhibition, business negotiations, and other activities, for the first time at the fair.
From Oct 18 to 19, the publisher held four activities for the World Canals Book series, the Chinese special edition for celebrating the centenary of Italo Cavino, the Spanish version of China Today, and the "Symbols of Jiangsu" series, respectively.

At the World Canals Book series trial reading, the series was unveiled and David Edwards-May, president of Inland Waterways International (IWI) and Michel Cotte, an expert in Canal du Midi, shared their research in canal culture.
The sample reading concerns the first two titles to go to print simultaneously in English and Chinese: Canal du Midi: Marvel of European Engineering by Michel Cotte and The Rideau Canal (Canada) by Robert Passfield.

A third title presented in Frankfurt is China's Grand Canal: Mirror of Civilisation by Li Denan and David Edwards-May. This will be a new edition of the pocket book published as a trial run by another Phoenix subsidiary in 2020.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Italian writer Italo Calvino, Yilin Press under PPMG launched the simplified Chinese version of Album Calvino.
A Phoenix publisher and German publisher have a meeting about copyright at the 75th Frankfurt Book Fair.
The Spanish version of China Today made its global debut as well. China Today introduces all aspects of China, including geographic resources, ethnic groups and languages, history, cuisine, tourist attractions. It is an indispensable tool to get to know the country in a comprehensive way.
A photo exhibition for "Symbols of Jiangsu" series was held to showcase the Qinhuai River and City Wall in Nanjing, gardens in Suzhou, red-crowned cranes in Yancheng, banyao kites in Nantong, and more.
The PPMG delegation also visited nearly 60 internationally renowned publishers and agency companies and received renowned guests such as Juergen Boos, president of Frankfurt Book Fair, and Ian Denison from UNESCO during the fair.
