The fifth Phoenix Writer Annual Conference opens in Nanjing on Oct 25.

The fifth Phoenix Writer Annual Conference raised its curtain in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, on Oct 25, attended by over 70 cultural masters.

Phoenix Publishing and Media Group invited 70 Chinese woodblock painting masters to customize special stamps for 72 outstanding authors of PPMG to express gratitude and appreciation to these authors. Woodblock painting artists presented the unique stamps to the authors at the annual conference.

Winners of the fifth "Golden Phoenix" Medals

Presenting the "Golden Phoenix" Medals is the highlight of each Phoenix Writer Annual Conference, intending to pay tribute to top authors who have made outstanding contributions to the content production for PPMG. The previous four editions have awarded a combined 19 authors. This year, the medals were given to four distinguished authors: Zhang Haipeng, Ding Fan, Liu Liangcheng, and Gu Jianjun.

2024 Phoenix Books of the Year are unveiled.

2024 Phoenix Books of the Year

The highly anticipated 2024 Phoenix Books of the Year list was released, with 15 excellent books from various publishing houses under PPMG making it onto the list. These books involve history, literature, humanities, social science, popular science, and other fields.

The 2024 Phoenix Books of the Year also established a special award for the eight books that have made the monthly list of the Books of China during the review period. The eight books are Up Into the Sky, New Quality Productive Forces: New Driving Force for Development, Deng Xiaoping: Stories Behind Photos, Autobiography of Zeng Xiaolian, Sounds That Glow, Run! Fang Yihe, Stories on Chuntai Road, Stories of Ancient Cities Ruins.

Six Master Studios are set up.

Master Studios

After the first group of four Master Studios was established at the first Phoenix Writer Annual Conference, the second group of six was set up at this edition. The six authors – Qian Chengdan, Ding Fan, Liu Liangcheng, Sun Jiang, Ke Jun, and Zhou Xiang –have made outstanding achievements in various fields and boast long-term cooperation with PPMG.

Other events

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Phoenix Education Publishing, Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing, Phoenix Fine Arts Publishing, and Phoenix Books under PPMG. A celebration ceremony for these four publishing houses was held at the annual meeting.

PPMG signed agreements on major projects on that day with Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, Cengage Learning, China Pharmaceutical University, and Shanxi Publishing & Media Group.

The Phoenix Literary Night and the third Phoenix Literature Prize award ceremony were also held on the same day.

An Easter egg market about PPMG's brands, an exhibition about these brands' achievements, celebrations for the four publishing houses' 40th anniversary, and other activities are expected to occur during the fifth Phoenix Writer Annual Conference.
