The Mayor was accompanied by Ms. Theresa Healy, Irish Consul General in Shanghai, during the meeting.
Chen extended welcome to the Irish delegation and expressed gratitude for Cork government's support for the exchange activities held by PPMG in the Cork County, Ireland, last September.
After briefing the guests about the group, Chen voiced his hope that both sides can deepen cooperation in the fields of cultural exchange and vocational education and explore business opportunities in other areas such as liquor-making, modern agriculture and medical and health industries.
Mr. O'Shea said he was glad to hear the president's proposals and happy to see that various cultural cooperation projects signed between Cork and Jiangsu in 2014 are being carried out and making progress.
He stated that Cork has great resources in publishing industry, as well as a leading position in Ireland in vocational education, liquor-making and medical industries, which he said could pave the way for further cooperation between the two sides.
Mr. O'Shea praised Phoenix's documentary production The Great Wall: Stories of China and pledged to help promote its broadcast in Ireland.
The Irish delegation also offered ideas for some possible joint projects at the meeting, including joint school running, online education and short-term school camps for middle school students for future cooperation.
