Xinhua Bookstore pumps books into petrol stations
Motorists in Nanjing can now pick up a copy of their favorite book when they refuel their cars after Nanjing Xinhua Bookstore and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) sealed a deal to sell books at CNPC's petrol stations throughout the city.
The 24-hour book sales services have been available for local residents and passing drivers at four gas stations since May 30, increasing to more than 20 stations in the city, according to a director of the project at the Xinhua Bookstore.
The book retailer, a subsidiary of Phoenix Media, will provide selected books on tourism, lifestyle, fashion and health and various bestsellers for readers. After forming a duplicable business model, the book retailer will expand the project to nearly 100 CNPC petrol stations in Jiangsu province, according to the project director.
