Chinese edition of Conversation with General Matan Vilnai launched
Attendees have a discussion session at the launching ceremony of the Chinese edition of Conversation with General Matan Vilnai, Ambassador of Israel to China on Nov 15.
The ceremony was presided over by Xu Hai, president of the Jiangsu People's Publishing. Matan Vilnai, accompanied by his wife, attended the event and signed complimentary copies of the book.
Matan was the deputy commander of Operation Entebbe, a successful counter-terrorist rescue mission carried out by commandos of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at Entebbe Airport in Uganda on July 4, 1976.
He was appointed Israeli Ambassador to China in 2012, and has played an active role in promoting the bilateral relations between China and Israel. For instance, he has pushed forward Israel's involvement in China's Belt and Road Initiative and was instrumental in Israel's membership of the China-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
He has travelled to more than 100 cities and towns in China and contributed to the application of Israeli advanced drip-irrigation technology and dairy technology in China, issuing of a 10-year multiple entry visa for Chinese tourists, and the launch of a direct flight between the two countries.
