A delegation led by Sun Zhenfu, president of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM), embarked on a trip to New Delhi and Bombay in India from Nov 13 to 16, exploring the country's book market.
The delegation put visits to several local publishing houses on the agenda, including GBD Books, which published over 100 Chinese language and cultural books in 2018. The two sides agreed to bring 19 new Chinese titles to Hindi readers and plan to seek more frequent exchanges in the future.
At Rupa Publications, one of the largest press houses and dealers in India, Sun shared ideas with the company's president, Vijay Ahuja, on the publishing realities of Chinese prints in the Indian market.
He also reached initial cooperative intention with Amin Shroff, chief of the Sterling Book House in Bombay.
The delegation won praise and approval from counselor Zhang Jianxin at the Chinese Embassy in India, who gave a thumbs-up to PPM's endeavors to promote Sino-Indian exchanges and looked forward to the company forging closer ties with Indian press houses.
The delegation also visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University and several local book stores.
