More than 30 scholars, media representatives and writers of the book One Yangtze River: From Snow Mountain to Ocean gather for a group photo at a seminar held in Nanjing on March 1.

A seminar on the book One Yangtze River: From Snow Mountain to Ocean was held on March 1 in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province.

The book was created by Phoenix Science Press Ltd, the Yangtze Institute for Conservation and Development and the Jiangsu Science Writers Association. It depicts the Yangtze River from different perspectives to showcase the river's natural environment, abundant resources of flora and fauna and the influence of human activities on its natural environment.

Zhang Jianyun, editor-in-chief of the One Yangtze River: From Snow Mountain to Ocean, said that the book had answered questions about how to protect the river and what needed protection, giving it great strategic and scientific meaning and practical value.

She Jiangtao, president of Nanjing-based publisher Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM), noted that the Yangtze River had a profound strategic meaning and rich cultural connotations. It would be a marvelous thing for China to publish an original title about the renowned waterway.

Many environmental and ecological experts, scholars, professional photographers and more than 20 environmental protection agencies participated in the creation of the book, according to Fu Mei, GM of Phoenix Science Press Ltd.

Other attendees at the seminar delivered speeches about conservation of the Yangtze River and shared their experience and also typical cases about the Yangtze River's protection.
