The works of the second phase of the mutual translation project between Chinese and Cambodian books by Phoenix Publishing and Media were recently published in the two countries.
The works include Bronze and Sunflower by Cao Wenxuan, winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award, and Rain Nait, a children's book from Cambodia.
Bronze and Sunflower tells the story of a friendship between country boy Bronze and city girl Sunflower, while Rain Nait tells the story about an orphan girl searching for her relatives.
In 2018, PPMG published its works for the first phase of the mutual translation project. The works include Universal Meter by Chinese writer Su Tong and Kolap Pailin (Rose of Pailin) written by Nhok Them, a renowned Cambodian writer. The Chinese version of Kolap Pailin is the first separate edition of Khmer literature published by a Chinese publishing house in the 21st century.
PPMG plans to publish the Cambodian version of House with Thatched Roof by Cao Wenxuan and the Chinese version of an award-winner Khmer children's literature Struggle in Learning for the third phase of the project. Translation of the two books has commenced and they are expected to be available in the market in May 2022.
