The Jiangsu People's Publishing House celebrates the 70th anniversary of its establishment in Nanjing on March.
A seminar was held in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, on March 18 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Jiangsu People's Publishing House.
Founded in 1953, the publishing house has published numerous works revolving around major themes of the new era in China. It focuses on themed, academic, educational, integrated, and export-oriented publishing. In 2022, it generated nearly 50 million yuan ($7.26 million) in profits.

Over the past decade, 56 of its books were exported to other countries, one book was named Chinese Book of the Year, four were honored as Chinese Book of the Month, and 1.82 million copies of its three books were printed respectively.
The Jiangsu People's Publishing House is also the predecessor of Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, which has become a leading publishing group in China and earned a reputation around the world.
Zhang Aijun, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, confirmed the publishing house's achievements and expressed hope that it will pursue integrated development and cultivate more high-caliber talent.

Wu Shulin, director of the Publishers Association of China, expects the publishing house to make full use of advanced technology to digitalize high-quality products and publish more high-quality books.
Many works of Hong Yinxing, a senior professor in the humanities and social sciences, were published by the Jiangsu People's Publishing House, and Hong won the "Golden Phoenix" Medal at the fourth Phoenix Author Annual Meeting, which was held in Nanjing on March 17.
In Hong's eyes, his works could not have such broad social influence if it were not for the publishing house, and he suggested that the Jiangsu People's Publishing House publish more studies on the Chinese path to modernization, as Jiangsu leads China in modernization.
Peking University Boya Chair Professor Qian Shengdan said that he is impressed by the Jiangsu People's Publishing House's principles, namely that academic influence and social benefits are more important than economic benefits, and that he will continue commissioning it to publish his works.
Sun Zhenfu, president of PPMG, said that he hopes the publishing house will attract more high-quality publishing resources and publish more high-quality books in the future.
