Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc signed a cooperation agreement with Springer Nature on April 19 during the London Book Fair 2023 to publish the English version of the Dictionary of Chinese Cultural Knowledge.

The book is an important reference for sinologists and translators who are seeking to understand Chinese culture. It is also suitable for regular readers who wish to learn more about Chinese culture.

It took more than 100 experts three years to complete the book, which includes 1,411 entries about topics like ideology, social governance, literature, history, art aesthetics, human geography, implements, and technology.

Nicky Harman, translator and trustee of Paper Republic, Jack Hargreaves, translator of Paper Republic, and Megan Copeland, translator and government relations and communications expert of Paper Republic, share their feelings about the Dictionary of Chinese Cultural Knowledge.

The book is expected to be published in more than 30 languages, including English, Spanish, and Arabic. Agreements for the book to be published in Mongolian, Portuguese, Egyptian, and Russian have already been inked between PPM and overseas publishing houses.

Rong Wenmin, vice-president of Phoenix Education Publishing Ltd, the publisher of the dictionary's Chinese version, said at the signing ceremony that they are delighted to partner Springer Nature, the ninth largest publisher in the world.
