English version of 'The Way of Calligraphy' debuts at BIBF

The launch ceremony of the English version of The Way of Calligraphy was held in Beijing on June 15, the first day of the 29th Beijing International Book Fair.
The English version will hit bookstores on Oct 1, and Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Indigo currently have it for pre-sale.
The Way of Calligraphy.
In the book, Sun Xiaoyun, chairwoman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, discusses calligraphy strokes by drawing on her decades of calligraphy writing experience.
Sun reproduces the calligraphy strokes of ancient Chinese people by taking into consideration their lifestyle, physiology, and writing instruments. She also explains calligraphy theories and important calligraphy terms in ancient China and describes the vertical evolution of the country's calligraphy history and the influence of calligraphy on paintings by literati.
English version of The Way of Calligraphy.
The book was published in 2001 and was republished by Phoenix Fine Arts Publishing Ltd after revisions in 2010. The revised version has been popular among Chinese readers and more than 200,000 copies have been printed.
The English version was published by the Royal Collins Publishing Group Inc in Canada. At the ceremony, Greg Jones, editor-in-chief of Royal Collins, praised the book as a bridge between the ancient wisdom of Chinese calligraphy and modern readers.
He said that he believes the book will teach readers about Chinese culture and inspire interest in Chinese calligraphy.
