10 language versions of 'Village Has Changed' on display at intl exhibition

Ten language versions of Village Has Changed debuted at the 61st Bologna Children's Book Fair, which was held at Bologna Fiere from April 8 to 11.

The book was published by Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing Ltd, a subsidiary of Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, in 2023.

As the first of the "Gold & Silver Mountains • Me and Nature" series, the picture book focuses on the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and depicts the great changes Yucun village in Zhejiang province has undergone over the years.

At the launch ceremony, domestic and overseas publishers and experts were invited to discuss the book, including its publication purpose, creative features and emotional expression.

Li Zhenqiang, president of PPMG, believes that the book is an outstanding introduction to China's ecological civilization and will teach overseas readers the secret to the building of a beautiful China.

Hai Fei, former president of the Chinese branch of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), noted that the spontaneous emotion and creative expressions in the book can resonate with children from around the world.

In the eyes of Zhang Mingzhou, former president of IBBY, the Village Has Changed can be translated into any language, allowing people everywhere to feel its power, sincerity and beauty.

Lea Vendramel, editor-in-chief of China News Italy, shared that it took just two months to publish the book in Italy. She noted that the book will teach Italian readers about the changes China has undergone, especially changes in nature.

Mohamad Elkhatib, editor of the book's Arabic version at Digital Future Co, said that the book aligns with the culture and values of Arab countries in both subject and content and will be well-received among Arab readers.
