To commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of Chilean poet and Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda (1904-73), Yilin Press, in collaboration with the embassy of the Republic of Chile in China, hosted a gathering in the embassy on July 12.
The poetry of Neruda possesses a captivating power, showcasing both the beauty of poetry itself and serving as a portrayal of Neruda's perspectives as a poet and diplomat on various countries, commented Xu Hai, editor-in-chief of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc.
He also highlighted PPM's mission in cultural exchanges between China and other countries, noting that the group will produce more outstanding works for readers.
Ge Qingwen, head of Yilin Press, expressed his expectations for more poetry and other literary works to further connect China with other countries and for more Chilean literary works to be introduced to China.

Peking University professors Zhao Zhenjiang, Dai Jinhua, and translator Wang Tian'ai explored the multiple connotations of Neruda's poetry and its profound influence on Chinese literary communities.
The day also marked the release of the Selected Works of Pablo Neruda, which consists of two books – Wandering in the World I Love: Selected Poems by Neruda and Invisible Rivers: Selected Proses by Neruda.
The former comprises 14 poems spanning the poet's creation life while the latter is expected to reveal the little-known side of Neruda to Chinese readers and includes illustrations authorized by the Pablo Neruda Foundation.
The commemorative activity was also attended by Mauricio Hurtado, ambassador of the Republic of Chile to China, and Fabian Tort, cultural director of the embassy of the Republic of Chile in China.
