Scholars in French history from universities such as Zhejiang University, Beijing Normal University, and Shanghai Normal University completed the books in 16 years.

In his address, Xu Hai, editor-in-chief of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc, stated that the publication of this general history is a significant milestone in domestic research on French history.
He believes that it not only fills the academic gap in this field in China but also provides valuable academic resources for a better understanding of the historical trajectory of France and even the world, which holds extraordinary significance for the publishing industry, academia, and the government.
Professor Qian Chengdan, the work's editor-in-chief, pointed out that since 2016, the General History of Great Powers series has published the general histories of countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. As the latest masterpiece in the series, A History of France undoubtedly adds new brilliance to the series.
