Phoenix Publishing and Media Group hosted a topic-planning competition in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, on March 14.
Centered around the theme of "utilizing new technological means to plan and market youth reading products", 11 competing teams from the subsidiaries of PPMG showcased their expertise and skills.
Drawing on their respective professional backgrounds, each team had eight minutes to present their planning proposals onsite using PowerPoint, covering aspects such as topic background, competitive analysis, target reader positioning, market outlook predictions, topic content and planning strategies, marketing plans, and showcasing promotional short videos for their books.
Leveraging the unique features of art publishing, the Phoenix Fine Arts Publishing team presented the book The Indomitable Backbones, using illustrations as the presentation method, and introduced three versions for different age groups: annotated, elementary, and middle school.

The Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing team focused on children's literature, planning a popular science comic book, Luoluobu's Secret Garden, and cleverly incorporating traditional Chinese culture such as ancient poetry, traditional Chinese medicine, solar terms, and customs while introducing plants. The Yilin Press team planned a book for teenagers titled Discovering the Beauty of Mathematics—The Pursuit of Light by Young Qiu Chengtong, leveraging their foreign language strengths to publish bilingually and planning to release in more languages to expand the overseas influence of their publications.
In this competition, AI application was a frequently mentioned term among the book editors. The Phoenix Media Publishing Ltd. & Phoenix Digital Media Ltd team utilized AI technology to awaken cultural genes, creating cartoon images of cultural giants Confucius and Su Dongpo, establishing a new cultural communication paradigm of "dialogue with sages".
The Jiangsu Phoenix Press Publishing & Media team creatively used an AI companion reading manual. The Phoenix Science Press team used AI tools to assist in writing short video scripts for the Mathematics is a Storybook promotional campaign, accelerating and enhancing video creation. In the book Su Dongpo, planned by the Phoenix Books team, scanning the pages triggers virtual social scenes, allowing viewers to witness the daily banter between Su Dongpo and his friends.
After a thrilling three-hour competition, the team from Yilin Press emerged victorious.
