Highlights of PPMG's participation in the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair.
Phoenix Publishing and Media Group organized the participation of 15 of its subsidiaries in the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany from Oct 15 to 19, showcasing 700 books and 80 cultural and creative products.
Through book and product displays, copyright negotiations, cultural activities, and professional exchanges, PPMG demonstrated its innovative achievements in publishing and further increased its international presence.
Zhang Chaoyang, chairman of PPMG, authored an English article titled Digital Intelligence: Second Growth Curve of Publishing Sector. In it, he outlines the group's six main development focuses: originality, intelligent transformation, digital transition, networking, integration, and green initiatives. He also highlights the importance of branding and internationalization in the era of artificial intelligence.
During the fair, PPMG hosted two key events: the launch of the Jiangsu Literature and Scholars Translated series and the copyright promotion for The Shape of a Life: One Mathematician's Search for the Universe's Hidden Geometry.
The Frankfurt Book Fair, established in 1949 by the German Publishers and Booksellers Association, is among the world's biggest events in the publishing industry. This year's fair featured over 4,300 publishers from more than 90 countries and regions, with the Philippines as the guest country of honor.
Eight highlights of PPMG at the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair:
1. A focused display of the translation of historical materials project commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War; meeting with Thomas Rabe, the copyright holder of John Rabe's Diaries, to discuss work authorization and digital development topics.
2. Hosting the launch event for eight new books from the Jiangsu Literature and Scholars Translated series.
3. PPMG's subsidiary in the United States, PIP, setting up a booth.
4. Promoting "Phoenix Online Reading", a digital library service, along with related digital products.
5. Setting up a shelf to exhibit and sell cultural and creative products associated with PPMG's publications.
6. Conducting over 60 meetings with overseas publishers from countries such as Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and India, resulting in several cooperative intentions.
7. Visiting Springer Nature Group to discuss academic cooperation and publication plans.
8. Visiting the European headquarters of Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group to discuss the operation of Phoenix Bookshelf and activities for promoting reading.
