The original Chinese picture book Oops! The Careless Pony!
Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing, a publishing house based in East China's Jiangsu province, launched the Polish edition of the original picture book Oops! The Careless Pony! on April 13 at the 63rd Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy.
Concurrently, the publishing house also hosted a Sino-Polish dialogue among picture book artists.
Created by renowned Chinese picture book author Wang Zumin, Oops! The Careless Pony! uses humorous, childlike illustrations to depict a wise and playful zodiac character beloved by young Chinese readers. The release of the Polish edition marks the book's official entry into the Polish children's book market.

Gu Jianya, head of Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing, addresses the launch ceremony of the Polish edition of Oops! The Careless Pony! on April 13 at the 63rd Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy.
Gu Jianya, head of the publisher, said that the optimism and wisdom conveyed by Oops! The Careless Pony! transcend languages and borders. "We are happy to collaborate with outstanding Polish publishers to bring Chinese original picture books into more Polish homes," he said. "This release is another significant achievement in our efforts to promote Chinese children's literature globally."
The author Wang Zumin shared his creative inspiration, saying the story stems from his love and imagination of Chinese zodiac culture, particularly the "horse". This slightly muddled, clumsy yet passionate and courageous little horse is a vivid reflection of the childlike spirit, he said.

Wang Zumin, author of Oops! The Careless Pony! and Polish illustrator Marianna Oklejak engage in a dialogue on contemporary expressions of traditional elements and the essence of creating for children.
The event featured a dialogue on cross-cultural resonance between Wang and renowned Polish illustrator Marianna Oklejak. They discussed contemporary expressions of traditional elements and the essence of creating for children. Both artists agreed that sincerity, humor and imagination are universal languages connecting with children's hearts.
The event concluded with the unveiling of the Polish edition of the children's book and the announcement of the upcoming Arabic and German editions.
