The office for the ninth Lu Xun Literary Prize announced the winners of this year's awards on July 15, with Phoenix Media and Publishing Group's two subsidiaries each taking home a prestigious accolade.

The poetry collection by Jiang Fei, The Earth Grows All Night for All Things, published by Phoenix Literature and Art Publishing, won the Poetry Award. Meanwhile, the joint publication by Yilin Press and East China Normal University Press of Finnegans Wake (Three Volumes) by James Joyce, translated by Dai Congrong, received the Literary Translation Award.

Jiang's poetry collection, published in July 2025, features 141 poems written between 2021 and 2024, along with a few representative works from before 2021. The collection encompasses both vivid depictions of rural life and abstract reflections on themes such as life and death.

The translated work, Finnegans Wake (Three Volumes), is the late masterpiece of the Irish literary giant James Joyce. Dai, a professor at Nanjing University, dedicated 18 years to completing this translation, which is annotated in full, adding over 40,000 notes to help readers navigate Joyce's linguistic labyrinth.

Established in 1996 by the China Writers Association, the Lu Xun Literary Prize is one of China's four major literary awards. Awarded every four years, it has traditionally been seen as a competition for professional writers to recognize outstanding contemporary Chinese literary creations.

This year's Lu Xun Literary Prize featured awards in seven categories: Novella, Short Story, Reportage, Poetry, Prose and Essays, Literary Theory and Criticism and Literary Translation. Each category awarded no more than five works, covering the period from Jan 1, 2022, to Dec 31, 2025.
