Phoenix Publishing and Media Group launched the much-anticipated summer care program for employees' children during summer vacation on July 1 to address concerns among parents, who face issues such as lack of supervision, homework assistance and managing their kids' screen time.

This heartwarming initiative has already garnered smiles from children and praise from parents.

Children are full of energy in the summer care program class.

The program, which began in 2024, has grown into a full-service model that offers academic support, skill development and daily care. Held in a dedicated area of the Phoenix International Book Mall, the program is managed under strict guidelines.

Each day, two to three dedicated teachers are on-site, ensuring a seamless sign-in and sign-out process. The program includes meticulous protocols for venue sanitation, food sampling, lunch supervision and outdoor activities.

Targeting children of employees in grades 1 to 6, the program runs in three sessions (each lasting 15 days, excluding weekends) throughout the summer. Each day's schedule is set up with care, featuring morning and afternoon homework assistance tailored by grade, nutritious lunches and enriching afternoon activities like traditional crafts, science experiments, creative arts and fun English lessons.

Outdoor activities are included in the program, with professional teachers leading sports and games, complemented by university volunteers who engage children in reading and storytelling — a practice that lowers screen time.

A third-grade student said that doing experiments and playing games with friends is much more fun than staying home alone.

Parents have noticed positive changes, with children eager to share new skills and experiences, such as learning paper-cutting, doing experiments, and making new friends.
