Updated: 2017-03-27

Four books from Jiangsu-based publishing giant Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM) have been announced as nominees for Best Books in China for the Year 2016 awards.

The chosen titles are Children's Eyes and The Sunflower Detachment both printed by Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing, The Chronicle of Lin Sanzhi by Phoenix Literature & Art Publishing, and Waiting for the Spring Wind by Yilin Press.

The awards are organized by the publishing division of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, China Book Review Society, and China Central Television (CCTV). The selection aims to recommend good books and promote reading to the general public.

A total of 30 books will be honored at the awards ceremony set to air on CCTV1 and CCTV10 on April 23, World Reading Day.

Since PPM's first campaign in 2014, the publisher has been strongly represented at the awards with at least one winner at each subsequent ceremony. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry (Chinese edition) by Phoenix Literature & Art Publishing; and Weeds: In Defense of Nature's Most Unloved Plants (Chinese edition) by Yilin Press were winners at last year's awards for works published in 2015.
