The 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Hungarian writer Laszlo Krasznahorkai for his captivating and visionary works that, in an atmosphere of apocalyptic terror, once again demonstrate the power of art.

Yilin Press, a subsidiary of Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, was the first publisher to introduce Krasznahorkai's works to the Chinese-speaking world. It introduced his most important work, Satantango, in 2013, followed by Baron Wenckheim's Homecoming in 2019, and his new work Herscht 07769 in 2021. All translations were done by renowned Hungarian translator Yu Zemin.

Satantango was immediately hailed as a pinnacle of Hungarian literature upon its release, establishing Krasznahorkai's literary trademarks of "lava-flow" long sentences and dystopian themes. After graduating in 1983, Krasznahorkai pursued his ideal of "reducing poverty through culture" by working as a librarian in a mountainous area inhabited by Romani people. This experience exposed him to the despair and dehumanization suffered by the lower classes, inspiring Satantango.
